Royal Wedding Excitement!

Today was a special day. I got up and watched the Royal Wedding! Did you? I am curious to know how many of you did. Pop me a comment to let me know – I’d love to hear from you!
Since I was a little girl I have been interested in the royal family. You can ask my sisters – I collected articles and magazines when Prince Charles and Princess Diana got married – I still have them too. And to keep up with my tradition I will go out tomorrow seeking the UK newspapers, magazines, etc – if you have any tips on where I can find them I would really appreciate it! I think part of the reason is because my Mom and I shared that interest. When Prince Charles and Princess Diana got married I was a young girl and we watched that Royal Wedding together. Today I shared that experience with my 2 daughters. They got up happily to watch the Royal Wedding with me.
Mom’s been gone for almost 3 months already and part of the reason for getting up at 2:30 am this morning to watch the Royal Wedding live was because when William and Kate got engaged Mom was really excited for them and their wedding day; I wanted to share this with her. All the while I was watching I told my 2 daughters (who are 11 and 9 years old) that Oma (Dutch word for Grandmother) would love this or that part. That brought tears to my eyes – Mom would have loved the boys and mens choir, the hymns, the orchestra, the new couple on the balconey. Mom – I think you got a great view of the Royal Wedding today…. And the other part of the reason was to carry on this Royal Wedding watching tradition. Watching it together with my 2 girls is a moment to remember – the effect on them was the same as I had when I watched Prince Charles and Princess Diana get married 30 years ago – feeling of love, joy, hope and of course the belief in fairy tales.
